Meet for lunch at a cafe or diner. Someplace casual and afterwards go to a sporting event, flea market, walk in the park. Then ice cream or coffee afterwards make an afternoon of it.
You choose the place, and the setting. I will meet you anywhere you wish to go, just as long as we give each other a chance based on feeling and not superficial bias.

My preference is to chat over the phone first. If one is able to communicate via phone and explore various topics, meeting in person would be merely uncovering if there is chemistry along with the dialogue. Meeting in the later part of the afternoon gives one an opportunity to decide if they want to move forward with getting to know each other or move on with their day.
